Voices and dance steps in celebration, from Sardinia to Catalonia. Oliena and Oliana come together through culture, people and the values we share in Europe.
THE PROJECT
BCG – su Ballu Cantau e els Gegants: voci e passi in festa is the town twinning project connecting Oliena, in Sardinia, with Oliana, in Catalonia. Singing, dancing and traditional giants create opportunities for exchange between residents, associations and local institutions.
Supported by the European CERV programme — Citizens, Equality, Rights and Values — the project celebrates cultural heritage as a space for participation, intercultural dialogue and a shared sense of belonging to Europe.
A SYMBOL IN MOTION
The Gegant of Oliena, Lussugliu, brings Oliena’s traditional dress into the family of Catalan giants. Introduced during Oliana’s Festa Major, it has become a symbol of the bond between the two communities: a shared tradition that keeps moving, meeting people and telling stories.

01Oliana · Catalonia, Spain
The delegation from Oliena met the Catalan community during the Festa Major, with an institutional welcome, traditional groups taking part and the presentation of Lussugliu at the Trobada Gegantera.

Oliena welcomed friends from Oliana during Cortes Apertas. Giants, traditions and encounters brought the European exchange into the streets and squares of the Sardinian community.
